Sally Sue Barry of Sequim passed away at the age of 77 at her home in Sequim following a brief illness.
Sally Sue was born on September 23, 1939, in Sequim to Kenneth B. Olts and Marjorie Swarts Olts.
She attended Sequim schools and graduated in 1957. She also attended the University of Washington and Peninsula College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business from City University.
Sally Sue worked as a manager of the Sequim Dungeness Chamber of Commerce from 1972-84. She served on the Sequim Planning Commission from 1974-79 and as a Sequim City Council member from 1988-95.
Sally Sue married Raymond Donald "Don" Barry on January 23, 1960 at Fort Lewis Military Base.
She and Don loved to sail their 23-foot KamiKaze in the San Juan and Gulf islands, and were members of the Sequim Bay Yacht Club.
Sally Sue was born, raised and lived most of her life in Sequim. She loved her town, was an avid community volunteer and supported the Sequim schools as a levy proponent.
Sally Sue and Don loved to travel, especially to visit their Kona family at Kona Village Resort in Kailua, Hawaii, and to Bellingham, Washington, to visit their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.
Sally Sue was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Soroptimist International of Sequim and a Girl Scout for 70 years.
Sally Sue is survived by her daughter, Linda Sue (Christopher "Shawn" Dahl) Barry of Bellingham; her brother, Stephen Kenneth (Jan) Olts; and grandchild Grace Margaret Dahl of Bellingham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond "Don" Barry, who passed on July 6, 2016, after 56 years of marriage.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 525 North Fifth Avenue, Sequim, WA 98382, with a reception following in St. Luke's parish hall.
