Carl Frederick Ackerman, 86, passed away February 7th, surrounded by his family.
He was born to Gottlieb and Christina Ackerman in Volt, Montana.
He came to Quilcene as a young boy and met his future wife Dolores Such. They were married December 28th, 1954.
He built his home in Quilcene where he farmed and raised his family.
He is survived by his wife Dolores, daughter Ilene (Ron) Berg of Shelton, son Jeff of Quilcene, granddaughter Stephenie (Vance) Clark of Puyallup, granddaughter Ashley (Brett) Hoffman of Quilcene, Alex Monroe of Quilcene. Three great-grandchildren, Cody Hoffman of Quilcene, Haylie Hamza, of Puyallup, and Holly Hoffman of Quilcene. Also survived by brothers Alvin Ackerman, of Quilcene, Marvin Ackerman, of Shelton, Elmer Ackerman of Gig Harbor, and Herbie Ackerman in New Jersey. Two sisters Tillie Springer in Brinnon and Betty Jane in Oregon. Many nieces, nephews and cousins, and numerous friends he acquired over his 87 years.
He was an active farmer, clam digger, hunter, fisherman and a great tinkerer, He loved the outdoors.
His career included being a rigger at Bangor and Indian Island before retirement. He also served in the United States Marines.
Grave side service, Saturday, February 17th at 11 a.m., at Quilcene Cemetery in Quilcene, Washington. Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
